When I was little I loved going to summer camp every year, as an adult I still go to camp but now as a counselor. Being outside most of the day, walking trails, and mentoring kids is just such a great opportunity that I think everyone should try at least once. You know what doesn’t love being outside 12 hours a day? My skin. The dirt and sweat that collect on the skin after a long day of being outside calls for a little bit of skin care. I didn’t take my full skincare routine but I did take 4 products that I couldn’t stand going a week without!
Every morning I woke up at 7AM and had 20 minutes to get ready for my day and late nights were inevitable so Neogen Green Tea Cleanser to the rescue! This is a foaming cleanser that is packed with antioxidants with fermented green tea. I used this in the morning and at night to cleanse, exfoliate, brighten, and hydrate my skin quickly. I didn’t have a lot of time for a full skin regimen so this helped fill in the gaps for a week while my other products stayed behind!
Since I have very acne prone skin I also brought along my Peter Thomas Roth Max Complexion Correction Pads. These pads are soaked in salicylic acid which helps to clear acne, black heads, and helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles. I used these at night time because my skin was just so dirty and grimy that I needed to make sure I was getting all of the grossness off my skin as well as preventing breakouts! I have been using these in my routine for about a month now and I must say they really have helped my skin.
Eye cream is a must have at camp because the nights and early mornings didn’t do my under eye any justice at all. I really needed something to help out my dark and dehydrated under eye area. So what I used was my Shiseido Benefiance Wrinkle Resist 24 every morning and night. It just smooths everything out and makes me look well rested even when I’m not. This eye cream has been in my skin care routine for about three months now and I can FINALLY see the bottom of the pot!
While I was packing, my step dad asked me if I was going to bring makeup with me, I told him no because I wouldn’t need it. My 10 year old sister then added “But she is bringing her moisturizer!” She knows me so well! I really wanted to pack a moisturizer that was thin enough to absorb quickly but still keep my skin really hydrated so I chose Tatcha Water Cream. This moisturizer does it all, its anti agin, hydrating and reduces pore size, who doesn’t love that?!
Let’s not forget about SPF! There was no competition when choosing the Sun Bum SPF over other sunscreens. I have been using it for a few weeks and I love how light weight it is on my skin as well as the protection it provides. I chose SPF 50 because I knew I would be outside for long periods of time and needed the extra protection.
Overall summer camp was a blast, I didn’t get a sun burn at all and my skin stayed clean and hydrated all week! Gotta love good skincare choices!
